Captivating by John and Stasi Eldredge

I’m not sure exactly how long I’ve had my Floormate, but I do know I don’t ever want to be without it! When my original one blew a fuse, we went online and found another one, stat! Let me tell you about this wonderful machine. It is a hard floor cleaner. It will dry vacuum any hard surface. Then, flip a switch and it will scrub with little spinning brushes and a squirt of hard floor solution. Finally, flip the switch to the third position and it’s a wet vac which will squeegee your floor dry for you! I will never go back to a mop and bucket again! It will do my tile, my vinyl, even hardwood. And it’s easy to clean, too. I promise you, if you have a significant amount of hard flooring in your house, you will never regret buying a Floormate.

I got this album by mistake. I was a member of one of those CD clubs, and this one came as the monthly selection because I missed cancelling it. But I liked Carman, so I kept it. I am so glad I did. This is, in my opinion, his best album to that point. I enjoy every song on it, from the operatic Italian version of John 3:16, to the courtroom drama story-song. My favorite is probably the Cajun-feeling “Do I Do” which reminds me of zydeco dancing in Louisiana. This is a great album and I highly recommend it. Go, buy!

This is one of my favorite movies, for sure, and it has only become more so as I have experienced parenthood for myself. No matter how many times I see this movie, I always laugh. Dianne Wiest is marvelous as a divorced single mom to two very challenging kids. Steve Martin is great, especially in the birthday party scene. While this is not a movie for kids (lots of language and adult situations), it’s definitely a film for anyone who has kids.

I have listened to this album a lot, because my kids just love the song “Dancing with the Dinosaur” (which has nothing to do with dinosaurs, it’s about how conscience seems to be going the way of the dinosaur). It has been in my car CD player for a long, long time, and I just haven’t gotten tired of it yet. SCC combines some hard-rocking numbers like “Facts Are Facts” and some beautiful acoustic ballads like “Miracle of Mercy” to make one awesome album. I especially love “King of the Jungle” which so very well describes how I feel some mornings! I highly recommend this album.

This album has been playing in my house almost constantly for weeks now. We like to play music while the baby’s sleeping to drown out the noise made by the other kids. I came across this gem in my father’s collection of CDs and I just love it. It’s beautifully performed and a pleasure and joy to listen to. I highly recommend it.
